Funeral services for Marie Stewart Smith, age 72 of Early, Texas will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the Heartland Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Greenleaf Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.  Mrs. Smith passed away Friday, May 29, 2015 with her family by her side.

Marie was born March 27, 1943 in Brady, Texas to Joseph Damon and Sallie Cox Stewart.  She graduated from Brady High School in 1961 as the valedictorian of her class.  On October 26, 1963, she married Jonnie Smith in Brady.  They lived in various towns before moving to Brownwood in 1991.  Marie was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church, was a bookkeeper and a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years Jonnie Smith of Early; two sons Otis Smith and Anthony Coincon of Dallas, Scott Smith and Michelle White of Early; grandsons Nicholas Smith of Early and Zachary Smith of Austin; granddaughter Bailey Smith of Brownwood; a brother-in-law Kenneth Smith and wife Ruth of Morgan, Texas and by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings; Otis, Mildred, Raymond and Milton Stewart, Ann McAnally, Vera Clauss, Lanell McAnally and Mary McAnally.

Memorials may be made to the Senior Citizens Center in Brownwood.
