JimmieDeenGrandMarshal2015The Brown County Fair Association announces that Jimmie Deen will be the 52nd annual Brown County Rodeo Parade grand marshal.

Deen, a Brownwood native, has been involved with the Fair Association and rodeo for 45 years.  He has worked in a wide variety of positions from plumber, janitor, cook, board member to president.  He served 6 terms as president and 9 three-year terms on the fair board.  He began helping with the rodeo in 1970 and his first fair board term began in 1980.  Deen puts in an average 250 hours a year for the fair and rodeo.

Jimmie began his association with the youth fair as a young man showing sheep.  After graduating from Brownwood High School, he attended Texas A & M University and graduated with an engineering degree.  After college, he worked for Ross Company in Early. He later went to work at 3M Brownwood and retired in 2014.

Jimmie has been married to Linda Edgar Deen, Brown County’s first rodeo queen, for 44 years.  They have three sons, Brad and wife Leslie of Waxahachie, Cody and wife Annalyn of Early, and Adam of Colorado City.  They have five grandchildren, Kaitlyn and William of Waxahachie and Hayden, Hannah, and Hudson of Early.  All of Jimmie’s and Linda’s sons were active in the youth fair and now Hayden, Hannah, and Hudson intend to carry on the Deen tradition.

The 52nd annual Brown County Rodeo Parade will travel through Downtown Brownwood and feature a wide assortment of entries. The parade will start Saturday, June 6th at 10 AM.

Awards will be presented for best in-town float, best out of town float, riding club awards, best decorated vehicles, best antique vehicles, best horse drawn vehicles, and best bikes/unicycle.
