Samuel Kenneth Sikes

SikesSamuel Kenneth Sikes, 85, of Brownwood Texas was called to be with the Lord, May 25 2015 from Brownwood Regional Medical Center at 4:20 am surrounded by his loved ones.

Visitation will be on Thursday May 28th from 6-8 pm at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas. Funeral Services will be held on Friday May 29th at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Indian Creek Cemetery.

He was born in Brownwood, Texas on March 12 1930 to Samuel and Laura Sikes. He graduated from Brownwood High School and shortly after joined the United States Navy, where he served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He proudly served his country for 30 years, 20 active and 10 reserved.

Sam also had a great love for music, sports, and all of his grand kids. He shared a special bond with each and every one of them, and especially loved his huggie, huggie, Huggies!!! He was always there helping anyone who needed someone to talk to and always shared his words of wisdom and his great love for the Lord.

He is survived by the Love of his Life, Charlene Sikes, wife of 37 years; a son, Samuel Sikes II and wife Kathy; a daughter, Christina Beasley and husband Todd Beasley; and three Daughters from a prior marriage, Sandy Swindle and husband Ed Swindle, Laura Buras and Husband Ed Buras; Donna Sims and husband Jim; along with numerous grand children and great grand children whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Samuel and Laura Sikes, 2 brothers Ralph and Rudolph, and 2 sisters Mary and Elizabeth. The family would like to give a special thanks for all of the prayers and kind words shared during this time.
