Billy B. Murphey, Sr.

MurpheyBillySrFuneral services for Billy B. Murphey, Sr. will be Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Lake Brownwood United Methodist Church Lake Brownwood, Texas, with pastors Tim Boeglin and Todd King Officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park Early, Texas. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 PM at Heartland Funeral Home Early, Texas. Mr. Murphey passed away Monday April 27, 2015 in Waco, Texas.

He was born September 22, 1931 in Pollock, Texas to Daniel Lee and Della Mae Anderson Murphey. Billy and Peggy Hester were married February 14, 1953 in Brownfield, Texas.

Billy was a member of the Lake Brownwood United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Pecan Valley Detachment Marine Corp League. He was also a member of the Carpenters Local Union Lubbock, Texas. Billy served his country in the United States Marine Corps, he was a veteran of the Korean War receiving a Purple Heart during his service.

Billy’s hobbies were fishing, hunting, camping and wood working, he loved to take his family on vacations where they spent time at the lake fishing and camping.

He is survived by his daughter Sandy Suddreth-Wideman and her fiancée Jerry Brown of West, Texas, his son Billy Murphey, Jr. and wife Linda of Bangs, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren; John C. Anderson and wife Jennifer of Purdon, Texas, Charles L.D. Murphey and wife Melissa of Clear Lake, Texas, and Susie Mc Carrell and husband Chris of Brownwood, Texas. Billy is survived by his great-grandchildren; Joshua Brian and Colby Lane Anderson, Travis Murphey, Josh Pade, and Corbin Mc Carrell. He is survived by one brother James Murphey and wife Margie of Bonham, Texas, two sisters Nathaleen Cobb and husband John of Lubbock, Texas, and Margaret Ann Diehl and husband Jim of Longview, Texas.

Billy is preceded in death by his wife Peggy, his daughter Cencelia, his parents, three sisters
Evaleen, Bobbie, and Inez.
