RibBurnOff2015LogoThe 1st Annual Rib Burn-Off will be held on Saturday, April 25th at Cecil Holman Park in Brownwood as a fundraiser for this year’s Brownwood Juneteenth Celebration.

The contest will start at 7:30 a.m. at the park, located at Hall Street and Austin Avenue.  Awards will be presented at the end of the cook-off.  First place will receive a 4-foot trophy and plaques will be given to both 2nd and 3rd places.  Entries will be judged on taste, visual appearance (not over or under cooked), and tenderness.

Entry fee of $75 per team is due by April 24th.  Each team is required to donate 1 rack of pork spare ribs for the fundraiser dinner at the end of the day.  Teams may consist of a chief cook and as many assistants as the chief cook deems necessary.

There will also be a red bean cook-off with no entry fee.  Contestants are asked to pitch in $5 at the end of the day which will be given to the bean cook-off winner.  Beans will be donated for the rib lunch.
