pittmanA graveside funeral service for Mary Beth Pittman will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, April 27, 2015 in the Blake Cemetery near the Williams community in northern Brown County.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 until 11:00 before departing in procession to the cemetery.

Heartland Funeral Home of Early is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Beth Allgood Pittman 84 year’s young passed away peacefully while surrounded by family in her home in Houston, Texas on April 23, 2015.

She was born on February 16, 1931 in Brown County to Joe and Vernette Allgood.  She attended Williams School where she met John Doyle Pittman and on May 12, 1950 they were married and spent the next 56 years together raising their family.  After Doyle passed away on June 15, 2006, Mary spent time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and taking care of family and friends who came to Houston to be treated at the Houston Medical Center. At one point her grandchildren posted a plaque at her front door proclaiming the home “The Pittman Inn”.

Mary Beth Pittman is survived by her sister Betty Jean Turner, her son Joe and his wife Alison, her son Jerry and his wife Kathleen, grandchildren Kelly & Kevin, Robin & Hillary, Andrea and James, and three great grandchildren, Olivia, Dean and James Jr. This family, and her role as mother, grandmother and great grandmother, was the most important thing in her life. This is where she drew her strength and left her legacy. Being with her family was what Mom enjoyed most of all. She will be greatly missed by each and every one of us.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation, 2914 Swiss Avenue, Dallas, Texas, 75204.

Condolences, memories, and tributes can be left for the family at heartlandfuneralhome.net
