Bangs Mayfest Set for May 2nd

KevinSealeThe 21st Annual Bangs Mayfest is set for Saturday, May 2nd from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the new Bangs Events Center on South FM 586.

The Mayfest parade will kick off the day at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.  The parade will travel down Fitzgerald, to 1st Street, and will travel through downtown.  Mayfest activities such as live music all day (under the pavilion), arts and crafts as well as food booths, city wide garage sales, pony rides and face painting will be open to the public beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

The Mayfest Car Show will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the corner of Fitzgerald and 4th Street.  Registration is from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and awards will be announced between 2-3 p.m.

Local churches will be serving breakfast and lunch in addition to the festivities at the park.

Beginning at 8:00 a.m., the First Methodist Church will host a plant sale and garage sale inside, making shopping easy.  FMC will also host lunch (choice of enchiladas or beans and cornbread) inside their fellowship hall at noon on both Friday and Saturday.

After the day full of fun activities, the annual Mayfest Street Dance featuring Kevin Seale will take place in downtown Bangs from 9 p.m. – 1 a.m.  Tickets are $15 per person (5 & under are free).  This is a BYOB event, no glass containers.
