Millican

Elsie Oliver Millican was born on March 2, 1914 at Harmony Ridge in San Saba County to Robert E Lee Oliver and Norma Risien Oliver. She went to be with her Savior on April 12, 2015 at the age of 101.

On July 6th 1938 Elsie married Winston Edward Millican, a local rancher living in the Colony community. He preceded her in death on August 4, 1965. Elsie rejoined her husband, Winston, on his birthday 50 years after his passing. They are once again together as a couple. Elsie’s education started at Harmony Ridge School and continued to San Saba High school and from there to John Tarleton, Texas Tech, and finally to Howard Payne.  Her teaching career included community schools at Colony, Live oak and San Saba where she retired. Her leadership influenced many young people to continue their education.

Elsie was very dedicated to her community, her church, and in helping others. She was a member of numerous civic and benevolent organizations. Her efforts toward the community and its citizens resulted in many awards and recognitions among them were the Heritage Life Time Achievement Award. Among all her achievements perhaps the most rewarding was her commitment to the Lord through her service to her church. She cooked many pecan pies as a welcome statement to newcomers to the community. She will long be remembered by all she reached out and touched by her dedication and service to her Lord.

She is survived by her three children, Mike Millican and wife Jerilynn, Kay Thompson and husband Deen; and Bob Millican and wife Debbie. Elsie shared her love with her grandchildren, Leyla Wagner, Jon Millican, Nicole Millican Grant, Kimberly Thompson Delgado, Monica Millican Shahan, Kelly Thompson, Winston Millican. Her blessings include sharing love with eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a granddaughter, Jill Millican and daughter in law, Charlotte Millican and great granddaughter Ava Millican.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Colony Cemetery Association or a charity of your choice.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. April 15, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in San Saba with Pastor John Saint officiating.  Interment will follow at Colony Cemetery in San Saba, County.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday April 14, 2015 at Blaylock Funeral Chapel from 5:00 -7:00 P.M.  Family requests memorials be made to Colony Cemetery or a charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of San Saba.
