PennJohnnieSrFuneral Services for Johnnie Joe Penn, Sr., age 86, of Brownwood will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with David Barnum officiating, interment will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.

Johnnie went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, April 7, 2015 with family by his side. He was born to Calbert and Gladys (Pearce) Penn March 21, 1929 in Milburn, Texas.

Johnnie joined the United States Air Force, January 1948; he served in World War II and Korea. He was discharged in January 1952, but continued to serve 7 years in the Reserves. Johnnie married the love of his life, Wilma Mobley Penn, December 9, 1955 at Coggin Ave Baptist Church. He graduated from Howard Payne University with a Bachelor of Science in 1978.

Over the years he worked at 3M, later retiring from Haliburton and Texas Airmotive. He was a member of the Brown County Sheriff’s Posse. He was also a Mason and Shriner.

Johnnie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Wilma Penn; three sons, Joe Penn and wife Lisa, Richard Penn and wife Kathy, Glenn Penn of Lake Charles, LA; grandchildren, Brandon Penn and wife Nicole, Brittney Penn, Hailey Myers and husband Matt, Jenna Smith and husband Robby, Brady Penn, and Taylor Penn; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Thurman, Madison Myers, Breelynn Penn, and Cooper Smith; sisters, Emma Jean Neal and Yvonne Taylor. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Calbert Alvin Penn, Jr.
