UILSweepstakes2015

Students from the Brownwood Middle School Band competed in the Region 7 UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest hosted at Coleman High School on Friday, March 6th.

The band earned a superior rating on stage and in sight-reading.  As a result of the superior rating in both areas, the band received the UIL Sweepstakes Award.

This is only the second time in Brownwood Middle School Band history that the Sweepstakes award was earned.

Contest judges had very positive comments regarding the performance. Tom Burns, retired director from Santa Anna and HPU professor said, “Overall very well done. Good teaching, good learning! Congrats!”

“Good looking band,” commented Mike Lewis, retired director from Burnet. “Excellent technique!”

Mike Lunney from Abilene Wylie summed up writing, “This is a fine band!”

“Congratulations to the band for an outstanding performance,” stated school band officials. “Thank you for all of the hard work.”

The Brownwood Middle School Band will perform their spring concert on April 23rd in the Brownwood Intermediate School cafeteria/auditorium. The event includes a $5 dinner and the opportunity to enjoy music from these young hometown musicians.
