BPDpatchSmallOne man was arrested Friday afternoon after selling synthetic urine which was going to be used for the express purpose of falsifying a drug test result according to Brownwood Police.

According to the report, during an investigation of Tobacco Paradise, located in the 500 block of N. Center Avenue regarding the products that illegally facilitate the falsification of drug test results, an undercover investigator was sold the synthetic urine.

The investigator, while operating undercover, spoke with the clerk about needing to pass a drug test, saying that he had a friend that told him the store sold a product that could help, the report states.  After the discussion, the clerk sold him the synthetic urine after being aware that the customer, the undercover investigator, wanted to buy a product that would falsify or alter the results of a drug test that would not test positive for marijuana, according to the report.  After purchasing the box containing the U PASS brand synthetic urine, the investigator called another officer who was waiting to assist, and the clerk was arrested.

The clerk, identified as 23-year-old Saugat Gautam of Early, was charged with falsification of drug test manufacture/delivery substance/device.

Gautam was held later released from the Brown County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bond.
