PettisJuanita Pettis, 82, of Brownwood, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday March 11, 2015. Funeral services, under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early, will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday March 14, 2015, at the Heartland Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery. The family will greet friends Friday 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Please send your condolences online at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net or come by the funeral home.

Juanita was born November 13, 1932, in Atmore, Alabama, to James and Eleanor Spearman. She attended and graduated high school in Alabama. Following school, she worked a couple of years before she married David Earl Pettis. In 1951, they moved from Alabama to San Angelo, Texas. His work carried them from San Angelo to Lubbock and back several times between the two locations. Juanita was a loving wife and mother to their 3 children. The next 20 years she worked various jobs while also being a homemaker. In 1971, Juanita began working for Texas Instruments  in the Lubbock plant and later moved to the Richardson TI plant. Juanita completed thirty years employment with TI and retired. She enjoyed spending her free time playing various games of dominoes, bingo, and cards. League bowling was both a challenge and fun for Juanita. In the kitchen, she was an excellent cook with her specialties being tomato gravy, egg gravy, and cornbread.

Juanita is survived by sons, James Pettis and wife Peggy of Las Vegas, Ronnie Pettis of Las Vegas; daughter, Carolyn Kelley and husband Gary Don of Early; grandchildren, Chelsea Byers and Conrad of Las Vegas, Kristy Hays and Chris Keys of Clyde, Wesley Pettis and Lexi Pettis of Las Vegas, Stetson Kelley and Zachary Kelley of Early; great grandchildren, Shelbie Hays Cook, Ethan Byers, and Trenton Kelley; brothers, Jerry Spearman and wife Barbara, Wayne Spearman, and Charles Spearman and wife Cherrie Beth; numerous nieces and nephews. Juanita was preceded in death by husband, David Earl Pettis; grandson, David Pettis; parents, James and Eleanor Spearman; sister, Wilma Burkett, and brother, Buddy Spearman.

The family wishes to thank her many friends at Care Incorporated, the great care given her by Solaris Hospice, the First Aide Agency, and Martha Morgan for her special care and assistance.
