30 BHS Choir Members Qualify for State at UIL Vocal Solo & Ensemble Contest

BHS_A_Cappella_Choir

Brownwood High School Choir members received high scores for their performances at the UIL Vocal Solo & Ensemble Contest at HPU on Saturday, February, 21st.

Sixty-two students participated, each of them singing both a solo and performing in an ensemble. Forty-five solos received a 1, the highest score given.

Twenty-six of the sixty-two that participated qualified to advance and compete at the Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest in May.

Additionally, five ensembles received a 1, and two ensembles qualified to advance to the state level.

The following students qualified for state based on their solo or ensemble performances: Thomas Hodges, Tommy Kerby, Alex Alonzo, Hannah Angeles, Jacqueline Armenta, Sarah Church, Sophie Darneal, Alexis Gil, Rylee Hubbard, Cora McNeese, Mariah Solis, Caleb Bostick, Brooklyn Britton, Wyatt Burleson, Robert Dick, Katie Griffin, Dashawn Johnson, Kylee McCoy, McKenna McDonald, Mary McIver, Shannon McNeill, Sharlene Munoz, Albert Nguyen, Cade Patteson, Sadie Perez, Chevy Robertson, Jack Robinson, Maycee Wilson, Shelbi Winstead, and Kalin Young.

“BHS Choir performed well today at the UIL Vocal Solo & Ensemble Contest, and the scores reflected it,” stated choir director, Cindy Franklin. “Congratulations to all who performed.”
