The Brown County & Surrounding Area Caregiver Conference will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the Adams Street Community Center, 511 E. Adams, in Brownwood, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

This Conference will offer caregivers from the West Central Texas region the opportunity to come together to share information on community resources and mutual support, with a special focus on those who are caregivers for a spouse, parent, family member or friend.

The featured speaker for this conference will be Dr. Bruce Davis, retried Abilene Christian University Professor of Gerontology.  He will present a program titled “Love Yourself, Love Your Partner,” providing valuable information to caregivers from a caregiver. In addition, a caregiver discussion panel, including Dr. Davis, Bob Brincefield, Mindy Bannister, Dion White, Mary Collins and Carrie Fritz, will provide valuable information and insight on issues caregivers are confronted with on a daily basis.

In addition to vendor booths, a “Let’s Make A Deal Game” with prizes and small group discussions, a guest musician, Phil Vasquez (better known as “Island Phil”), will be entertaining attendees.

This purpose of this conference is to provide information, assistance and resources to caregivers of those over the age of 60, caregivers 55 years of age or older raising children under 18 years of age and caregivers caring for a disabled person, any age, who cannot care for themselves.

This event is free of charge and is open to anyone interested in attending.  Lunch will be served. To register and/or for FREE respite care during the event, call Joel Hutsell Community Services Coordinator with the Area Agency on Aging at 325-793-8417 by March 12th.

The Brown County & Surrounding Area Caregiver Conference is a joint effort of the West Central Texas Council of Governments Area Agency on Aging, Care Nursing & Rehabilitation and Redstone Park Retirement & Assisted Living.
