PlayBallForBradenPlay Ball for Braden, a benefit for the Summers family, which was postponed last weekend due to inclement weather, has been rescheduled for Sunday, March 1st at Early City Park.  The public is invited to attend and enjoy this community-wide baseball/softball tournament and brisket lunch fundraiser.

A meal will be served beginning at 11:30 a.m.   Meals will be offered for $8 each and include slicked brisket, sausage, beans, potato salad, rice and a drink.

At 12:30 p.m., everyone will gather around the fence line of field #3 for prayer and a balloon release.

Games will begin at 1:00 p.m.  In addition to the games, there will be a raffle for a softball bat and for a baseball gift basket.  Play ball for Braden will also be available for purchase (in select sizes) or to order.

All proceeds from this event benefit the Summers family.

Braden Summers, son of Ricky and Kelley Summers and the brother of Taylor Summers, was a distinguished 7th grade honor student at Early Middle School.  He loved God, his family and sports including baseball, basketball, and football which kept him and his family very busy. Not only did Braden represent Early Middle School well on the football field and the basketball court, but he also played select tournament baseball on various teams throughout the state. He played for the Texas Tornados, a select baseball team, based in Pflugerville, Texas. This past summer, his team won the Super Series Baseball of America Texas State Championship in Round Rock, the Nations Baseball State Championship in Houston, and the Baseball Nationals in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. His team finished the season undefeated in 21 consecutive games.  13-year-old Braden passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015 after a hard fought battle against a severe form of pneumonia.
