McLaughlinBrownwood resident Pat McLaughlin announced his candidacy for Brownwood City Councilman and released the following announcement.

“I’m Pat McLaughlin and I am running for City Council, Ward 2. After being encouraged by friends and family I felt this would be an excellent time to again serve my community, but in a different capacity.

My wife of 27 years, Vicki and I have four children,  Ashley (26), Patrick (24) and Cameron (21) all graduated from Brownwood High School and Alex (8) the youngest currently attends East Elementary.

I have been involved in Brownwood community service for more than thirty-five years working with the Downtown Brownwood Lions Club, Elks Lodge, Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce/Convention & Visitors Bureau and as President of the Brownwood Junior Chamber of Commerce where I led my chapter to be recognized as the number one “Growth & Membership Development” chapter in the world.  I chaired, organized and worked with numerous events and organizations to increase the quality of life in Brownwood and the surrounding area.

I believe that by creating a more receptive atmosphere between the City of Brownwood and civic and non-profit organizations we will create a platform to encourage more events and programs in the community.  With proper research of successful enhancements found in other communities I believe we could learn a thing or two that we could, in time, apply here.

By taking an active role in setting city priorities, as City Councilor, I will ensure that our plans for the future will benefit residents of Brownwood from every walk of life.  That Brownwood will continue to be fiscally cautious with the people’s tax dollars but not forgetting that it is equally important to improve the quality of life in Brownwood.  To not only maintain what we’ve been blessed with but to create an environment of growth and excitement to attract more businesses, industries and residents.

I am launching a website www.electpat.org which should be up and running in a few days. Please visit me there and be sure to express your suggestions and concerns for Brownwood.  Our mailing address is 901 N Fisk #186, Brownwood, TX 76801 and our office number is 325/643-2140.

Remember, if elected, I will be representing your suggestions and your concerns so let me know what’s on your mind. I respectfully ask that you cast your vote for Pat McLaughlin for City Council, Ward 2.  Brownwood really needs a Pat on the back.”
