Lucille Rendleman

RendlemanMammieLucille Rendleman, a lovely lady, joined her Heavenly Father on February 15, 2015, in Brownwood Texas. Services will be held at 10 am on Friday, February 20, in the Netherton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Clifford officiating.  Interment will follow at Zephyr Cemetery under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home and Cremations.  Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm this evening, February 19, at the funeral home.

Mammie Lucille Locks was the second child born to Lona Elizabeth Baker Locks and Ernest Locks. She was born in Manor Texas on December 30, 1919. She graduated from Zephyr High School and went on to attend Howard Payne College where she graduated and began her teaching career. Lucille married A.W. Rendleman on June 24, 1945 in Jonesboro, IL on the family farm. She taught school in Texas, Okinawa, Germany, France, and Kansas.  The high light of her career was when she was awarded the “Most Outstanding Teacher” and a “Lifetime Membership of the Kansas PTA.” She was also a member of the Retired Teacher Association of Kansas receiving an honorary 50 Year Member Certificate.

Lucille was active in church activities, child offices in state wide programs, Delta Kappa Gama, Elks Lodge, VFW Auxiliary, and the Outreach Program of the Presbyterian Church as a story reader every day for eight years. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, filling all chairs and receiving a 50 Year Certificate from them as well. Lucille was also a member of the Zephyr Community Association and served on the Zephyr Cemetery Association for many years.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Ernest Arthur Rendleman of Brownwood; granddaughter, Robin Dawn Strong and husband Kenneth of Frisco; great-grandson Bryant Strong; adopted sons Lee Worster and wife, Julie of Missouri and Jack Henshall of Arkansas; nephew Bob Rendleman and wife Hope of Washington; special family members Papa Jack and Ruth Henshall of Lubbock and many friends of the Brownwood and Zephyr area.

She was preceded in death by her husband A.W. Rendleman; her parents, Ernest and Lona Locks; her sister, June Locks Guyer and husband Grady; and three angel children; a son, Drake Edwards and grandchildren, Baby Rendleman and Ryan Rendleman as well as a special sister-friend, Marzelle Cobb.
