The Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit held their tenth annual Paint-Off Competition at the Depot Civic and Cultural Center Saturday, awarding two talented artists for their ability to create a work of art in just six hours.

Anthony Brown of Abilene was awarded the Paint-Off Best Overall Award and a $500 cash prize.  Second place, the Paint-Off Award of Excellence, along with a $250 cash prize was presented to Denise Sommer of Brownwood.

The juror for this year’s paint-off was Warren Taylor of San Angelo.  He is an accomplished artist whose works have been seen in over 250 exhibitions of American watercolor painting. He retired from full-time teaching at Midland College, Midland, Texas in 2011 and relocated to San Angelo, Texas.

There were 14 competitors in this year’s Paint-Off Competition from Austin, Georgetown, San Angelo, Abilene,  and Brownwood.
