FarmBureauLogoFarmers and ranchers in Brown County will reach out to the community to talk with them about how their food is grown during Texas Food Connection Day, Feb. 19.

Farmers and ranchers across the state will organize community activities, donate to local philanthropies and seek to spur conversations with their customers during Texas Food Connection Day.

“Texas Food Connection Day is about sharing what we do on our farms and ranches to grow our food, fuel and fiber,” said Lewis Lehman, Brown County Farm Bureau president. “Young people and adults have questions about their food and agriculture. This week gives farmers the opportunity to start a conversation with them.”

Local farmers and ranchers will host a hamburger luncheon offering hamburgers for a cash donation to Good Samaritan Ministries from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. while supplies last on February 19 at the Brown County Farm Bureau office located at 2450 South Highway 377 in Brownwood.

“Food is one thing that connects everyone. We work hard every day to provide families with fresh, nutritious and affordable food,” Lehman said. “We’re looking forward to connecting with our consumers.”

Texas Food Connection Day, formerly Food Check-Out Week, was established to connect farmers with their customers and spur conversations about agriculture and food-related issues, including affordability, nutrition, animal welfare, profitability and productivity.
