Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit to Feature Artist Demonstrations Beginning February 9th

The Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit opens Sunday, February 8th showcasing artwork of many talented artists from across the state and will also feature demonstrations presented by 29 Texan artists over the next two weeks.

These demonstrations will be presented from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. daily on weekdays throughout the event.  Artists will show visitors of the exhibit how to use a variety of different media as well as share interesting techniques.  Pictured above Ted Shelton demonstrates wildflower painting during the 2014 exhibit.

The following is a schedule of the demonstrations to be featured during this year’s exhibit:

Monday, February 9

Tammy Barr – Metal Clay Jewelry
Mary Stanley – Marzipan Sculpting
Lesile Gilbreath – Mermaids (acrylics)

Tuesday, February 10

R.J. Barnett – Paper Mache’
Jaquie McMullen – Pastel
Jeanette Long – NET’s Country Connections (cloth dolls and miniatures)

Wednesday, February 11

Kerry Sawyer – Acrylics
Cindy McCarn – Water Colors
Kathryn Jones – 3-D painting with Snowtex

Thursday, February 12

Brenda Goldston – Portraits in Water Color
Brenda Shaw – Modernism (acrylics)

Friday, February 13

Ted and Martha Shelton – Texas Wild Flowers
Ginger Test – Water Colors
Bill Shields – Oil

Monday, February 16

Jana Marie Herndon – Micro Mosaics
Robert Priddy – Landscape Photography

Sulema Orr – Photography

Tuesday, February 17

Robert Stacks – Wood and Paper Art (carving)
Betsy Johnson – Paint Just About Anything with Acrylics
Kathryn Jones – Easy Marbleizing with Water Colors

Wednesday, February 18

Tommy Munster – Drawing with Munster (acrylics)
J.B. Taylor – Wood Carving
Tina Howard – Block Printing

Thursday, February 19

Christopher Gaston – Digital Creativity
Julie Mize – Colored Pencils
Debbie Darby – Mixed Media

Friday, February 20

Colby Compton – Colored Pencils
Linda Eggleston – Pastels
Jeremy Serna – Air Brush

The exhibit itself will be open to the public February 8th through 20th at the Depot Civic and Cultural Center in Brownwood beginning with the opening reception on February 7th.  The public is invited to visit the exhibit and enjoy viewing the 109 works selected from across Texas along with the above demonstrations.

Monday-Friday  9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Saturday 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Sunday   1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
