BurgeEarleneEarlene Gertrude (Brown) Burge left this world to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 03, 2015 in Brownwood, Texas. Earlene passed away at her home; surrounded by her loving family. She will be sorely missed.

Earlene was born in April 1927, in Pioneer, Texas to Jess and Agnes Brown. She lived most of her youth in Pioneer and enjoyed spending her time with her many brothers, sisters and cousins. She was a graduate of Pioneer High School. Earlene was especially close to her cousin, Mildred (Hester) Taylor, with whom she shared many precious moments.

Earlene attended Cisco Junior College where she received her LVN license. Earlene married RJ Burge in 1947 and was a dedicated homemaker; traveling in different areas of the U.S. She and RJ made a home in and around Hayden, Arizona until retiring in Brownwood, Texas. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Earlene was a devout Christian; worshipping throughout her elder years at the Rising Star, Cross Plains and 4th and Stewart Church of Christ in Brownwood. She loved going to church, reading the Bible and truly living God’s word. She had a passion for people and for quilting and shared her many stories and life experiences with her dear friends of the Pioneer Quilting Club.

Earlene enjoyed working in her garden and could often be found tending to the plants. Weeds never stood a chance if in her path. Earlene also valued her skills in sewing and would often make full use of material in her patchwork quilts. In her later years, she took great pride volunteering for the Pioneer Cemetery Association Memorial Day events.

Earlene is survived by her children: son, Sonny Burge; son, Robert Burge and wife, Carolyn; daughter, Jessica Stultz. Grandchildren: Kim Dowling; Joe Burge; Debbie Jirle; David Burge; Michael Burge; DeeAnn Chisholm; Cindy Fuller and Jon Ochoa. Great-grandchildren: Nick, Daniel, Sabrina, Samantha, Sara, Joshua, Alex, Cameron, Michael, Jonathan, Matthew and Emily. Great-Great-Grandchild, Rosa. Siblings: Rudolph Brown, Betty Greenman and Katheryn Brown as well as numerous nieces and nephews and Christian friends.

Earlene is preceded in death by her husband, RJ Burge; parents Jess and Agnes Brown. Daughter-in-law, Sandra Burge and son-in-law, Jack Stultz. Siblings: Harold Lester Brown, Joe Brown and Mary Ellen Brown.

Visitation will be held at Davis Morris Funeral Home on Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 10am at the Fourth and Stewart Church of Christ, 3201 4th St. with Michael Light officiating. Burial will follow at the Pioneer Cemetery in Pioneer, Texas.

The devoted giver she was, Earlene would have appreciated an act of kindness made on her behalf.
