Brownwood Fire Department – Fire & Rescue Reports 1/6

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the period of December 22 – January 4, 2015 from the Brownwood Fire Department include 43 medical emergencies, 9 fire call, 5 motor vehicle accidents, 1 hazardous materials calls and a lock-in call.

Reports of interest that the Brownwood Fire Department responded to include:

Monday, December 22

*11:59 AM – BFD responded to the 1900 block of 12th Street to a child locked in a vehicle.

Wednesday, December 24

*8:46 PM – BFD responded to a one vehicle accident with minor injuries on FM 45 where involving the vehicle striking a pole.

Saturday, December 27

*2:24 PM – BFD was dispatched to a 2-vehicle accident with no injuries at 4th Street and Avenue K.

Sunday, December 28

*10:46 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 2800 block of Southside Drive.  Firefighters arrived on scene to investigate a possible short in a light housing.  Firefighters removed the bulb.

Monday, December 29

*11:33 AM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 1700 block of Fort Worth.  Units arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from structure.  The fire was extinguished by fire personnel, who performed salvage and overhaul.

*12:43 PM – BFD responded to a 2-vehicle accident with no injuries in the 600 block of Center Avenue.

*9:31 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 3200 block of Durham Avenue.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find the structure fully involved and began defensive fire attack.   The fire was brought under control and salvage and overhaul was begun.

Tuesday, December 30

*11:09 AM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call on North US Hwy 183.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find a 34-foot fifth wheel fully involved.  The fire was extinguished and overhaul started. The camper was a complete loss.

Wednesday, December 31

*8:56 AM – BFD responded to a hazardous materials call in the1500 block of Main Street to investigate the smell of natural gas. It was determined that the smell was coming from natural gas station pop off.

Thursday, January 1

*2:41 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 500 block of E. Commerce to investigate smoke coming from under Pecan Bayou bridge.  The smoke was found to be a homeless man who had started a fire to stay warm.

Friday, January 2

*1:16 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 1500 block of Main Blvd.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find nothing showing.

*4:35 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 2600 block of Crockett.  The incident was determined to be a fire started by putting paper over a light.  The fire was extinguished by hospital staff before fire department arrival.

*7:13 PM – BFD responded to a 2-vehicle accident with no injuries at Austin and Main Streets.

*9:54 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 1100 block of County Road 134.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find fire showing from the side of the structure.  The fire was knocked down and the residence was ventilated.  The fire marshal arrived on scene to investigate.

*10:56 PM – BFD was dispatched to a one-vehicle accident on W. Hwy 67.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find an 18-wheeler on its side.  Firefighters secured and stabilized the truck so that the driver could be excavated from the vehicle.

Saturday, January 3

*4:26 PM – BFD was called to a single vehicle accident in the 3500 block of N. Hwy 279.  One patient was transported.
