McMillian2014OfficerOfYrThe City of Early hosted their annual Christmas party on Monday, December 15th, naming Corporal Brandon McMillian the Early Police Department’s Officer of the Year for 2014.

According to EPD Chief David Mercer, Corporal McMillian’s duties include first line supervisor for patrol, being the K9 officer and the position of the DREAM instructor for the Early ISD’s 5th grade class.

“Corporal McMillian is a great asset to the department and to the City of Early,” said Mercer.

Mercer explained that officers nominate fellow officers they believe are deserving of the award, then the chief reviews the nominations, and based on job performance, decides the award recipient.  He stated that almost every year, the decision is a unanimous decision based on the chief’s selection and the officers’ nominations.
