Beck2John Henry Beck, Jr., 89, of the Holder Community passed away at his home Saturday, November 29, 2014. Services will be held Monday, December 01, 2014 at 2:00 pm under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at Holder. Pastor Richard Couch will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

John H. Beck was born on November 9, 1925 to John Henry and Myrtle Jewel Beck at the home place in the Holder Community. He served in World War II at Germany receiving many decorations including the Bronze Star. Later he moved to Lake Jackson, Texas where he retired from Dow Chemical with 35 years of service. For 17 years he served as the league president for fast pitch girls’ summer softball program in Lake Jackson. He came back to the home place where he was born.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Betty Ann Beck and one son Bobby Carol Beck, two sisters and three brothers.

He is survived by two sons, Billy Fred Beck of Clute, Texas, and Benny Dale Beck of Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Velma Lancaster of Early, Texas, Jewel Snow of Waterford, California, Vada Childers of Tye, Texas; one brother Adron Beck of May, Texas.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Solaris Hospice, 413 Center Ave, Brownwood, Texas 76801 or to the North Lake Brownwood Fire Department, 3340 Windjammer, May, Texas 76857.
