2014 HPU Football Awards

hpu_football_logoThe Howard Payne University football program held their annual awards banquet last Thursday and announced their 2014 team awards.

Roger Geise presided over the banquet honoring this season’s best Yellow Jacket performances on the field.

Howard Payne’s thirteen All-Conference players were recognized along with this season’s ASC Players of the Week, Richard Young and HPU’s offensive line that was named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week.

2014 Captains
Xavier McFalls, Derrian Thompson, Richard Young, Victor Gonzales

Most Valuable Offensive Player
Colby Mica – “For loyality, relentless effort, and exceptional athletic performance in Yellow Jacket Football”

Most Valuable Defensive Player
Jordan Shaw – “For loyalty, relentless effort, and exceptional athletic performance in Yellow Jacket Football.”

Most Inspirational Player
Derrian Thompson – “For enlivening and exalting teammates to believe in doing their best.

Yellow Jacket Award
Victor Gonzales – “This award is given to a student-athlete that is an outstanding athlete and their ability as a leader contributes greatly to their team.  It suggests leadership and effort that is above and beyond.  It also suggests respect from one’s team.”
