The Bangs High School Theatre department will present the animated film classic’s fairytale kingdom, everyone’s favorite upside-down fairytale, Shrek the Musical at the Bangs High School Auditorium. This song-and dance-filled stage adaptation of the Oscar-winning DreamWorks animated film opens November 20 with other performances on November 22 and 23.
The production re-creates the fantasy Kingdom of Far Far Away with many hilarious, cheeky twists. Instead of a knight in shining armor, the hero is Shrek, a swamp-dwelling ogre teamed up with a blabbermouth donkey. And the princess – She’s the slightly temperamental Fiona. After Shrek rescues Fiona from a dragon-guarded tower, the two fall in love before she reveals there’s more to her than meets the eye. Other fairytale misfits add surprises: from a wooden boy with an attitude to dancing rats.
This entertaining, family-friendly show features a terrific score, with 19 songs including “Welcome To Duloc” and “Freak Flag.” The songs come from Jeanine Tesori, who wrote the music, and David Lindsay-Abaire, who wrote the book and lyrics.

There will be a Dessert Theatre option for the Sunday Matinee. Tickets are $7.00 and include dessert, coffee or tea, and entrance into the show. Tickets to the desert theatre are by reservation.
