Treats for Santa Bake-off Competition Announced for Christmas Under the Stars Festival

The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce will host their annual “Treats for Santa Bake-off” competition at the upcoming 6th annual Christmas Under the Stars Festival on the first weekend in December. 

Santa likes his treats , and area bakers can enter the contest to show off their skills in several categories including pies, cakes, bars/brownies, cookies, bread/rolls, and muffins. 

The contest will take place on the second day of the festival, Saturday, December 6th.  Baked goods will only be accepted on Saturday, December 6th from 3-4 PM at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and judging will begin at 4:30 PM.

Scoring for each treat will be based on taste, appearance and originality.  After judging, the entries will be moved to the Depot Civic and Cultural Center near Santa and Mrs. Claus for display and to sell samples to the public.

Cost to enter the competition is $10 per entry and cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.  Entry forms are available at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce or can be downloaded at BrownwoodChristmas.com.

The 6th annual Christmas Under the Stars Festival sponsored by KTXS-TV will feature holiday games, crafts, food and attractions for kids of all ages.  The event will take place on Friday, December 5th and Saturday, December 6th from 4-8 PM at the Depot Complex and the Lehnis Railroad Museum.  Key attractions will include Mr. and Mrs. Claus, ice skating, rock climbing wall, Big Wheel Races and Treats for Santa Contest.   Additional sponsors for the festival include Howard Payne University, Brownwood Women’s Clinic, KYOX “The OX,” and Allegiance Ambulance.

The annual lighted Christmas Parade will be held Thursday, December 4th at 6:30 PM in Downtown Brownwood sponsored by Texas Rock Crusher Railway.
