Texas State Comptroller Susan Combs released sales tax allocation numbers for November showing Brown County cities experiencing steady growth.  All four Brown County cities of Brownwood, Early, Bangs and Blanket showed small increases in comparison to the same period in 2013.

The City of Brownwood was up 8.75% in sales tax for the month compared to November of last year.  Bangs and Blanket were also up with 28.17% and 14.92% respectively, as compared to the same month last year.  The City of Early saw a very slight increase in allocations as compared to the same period in 2013, with an increase of 1.55%.

Combs will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts their November local sales tax allocations totaling $723.1 million, up 10.5 percent compared to November 2013.

Texas Comptroller Susan Combs said that state sales tax revenue in October was $2.41 billion, up 12.9 percent compared to October 2013.

“Strong growth in sales tax receipts was apparent across all major economic sectors,” Combs said. “Notable increases from retail trade and the oil and natural gas-related sectors led the growth, indicating increased spending by both consumers and businesses.”

The November sales tax allocation figures represent monthly sales made in September.
