LatchKeyBoard2014

The Latch Key Program announces their 2014-2015 board members. The board of directors is selected by the community to govern the program. Members serve a 3-year term and are responsible for all major decisions as well as fund raising.

The staff and students of the Latch Key program are thankful for the board and appreciate all they do for the program.

Pictured, left to right, are the 2014-2015 board members: (back row) Hank Hunter, Jared Trowbridge, Sterling Lentz, Gene Deason, (front row) Katherine Palmer (Treasurer), Jeannette Pattillo (President), Carol Nicholas (Secretary), and Jessica Hardy (Director). Not pictured are Evy Winn (Vice President), Glenda Lemke, and Dr. Tom Bird.

Founded in 1983, the Pearl Griffin Memorial Latch Key Program is located at 2411 Coggin Avenue in the First Christian Church in Brownwood, Texas.  The program serves children (Pre-K through 6th grade) who qualify from low income families to have after school care so that the children are not left home alone.

Each year, approximately 80 children are served in Brownwood by Latch Key.  First Christian Church donates the classroom space and Howard Payne students help as teachers fulfilling two needs, a low cost staff for Latch Key and a job through the Work Study Program for the HPU students.  Latch Key is a United Way Organization.

For more information about the Latch Key Program call Jessica Hardy at 646-2138.
