IMG_6389The Brownwood Community Garden will host their annual fundraiser, “Grow the Garden,” from 5:00PM-7:00PM on Saturday, November 8th.  The event will be held at the Brownwood Area Community Garden located at 1514 Dublin Street.

The Brownwood Area Community Garden produces over 3000 lbs. of produce per year and donates to area agencies that fight hunger.

Organizers invite the public to join them at the Community Garden for an evening of culinary delights provided by The Turtle Restaurant and live entertainment by piano soloist Debra Mathis. Each ticket purchased will include dinner, dessert and two drinks. Tickets are $50 each and are available for purchase at The Brownwood Area Community Garden, The Turtle Restaurant, and The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce.

The live auction portion of the night begins at 6:00 p.m. and will feature items donated by local area business owners. Contributions received will go towards growing the Farmers Market and Community Garden Staff.

The Brownwood Area Community Garden is a year-round operation, with very low operating costs; however, it still needs local support to keep going.  Tickets purchased for this special event helps keep the Garden Gate open, keeps the irrigation system in good operating condition, helps purchase tools and seeds, and helps pay the Garden Coordinator’s and Farmers Market manager’s salaries.

The Garden is also actively recruiting new board members, especially those with public relations and fundraising experience.  Those interested in serving in this organization are encouraged to call Garden Coordinator Daniel Graham at 641-9029.
