MidTexHRMALogoOctober 2014 is proclaimed Human Resources Awareness Month by Texas Governor Rick Perry.  The annual awareness campaign is held to highlight the strategic role human resource professionals play in today’s Texas workforce and the HR partnership with both employees and employers.

Governor Perry’s proclamation pays tribute to the significant contributions HR makes toward continued economic and business success in the State. And, it acknowledges HR’s vital role in maximizing Texas employers’ greatest asset—its workforce. From recruiting new talent, to compliance with labor laws, to educating Texans about health and safety, to providing ethics training and more—human resource professionals are committed in their partnership with both workers and employers.

Texas has more than 104,000 human resource professionals.  Over 19,000 of whom are involved with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), most are active in the 34HR chapters and 33 student HR chapters across the State of Texas. The Mid-Tex Human Resource Management Association has monthly luncheons to provide continuing education for HR Professionals. It provides a great networking opportunity for local business leaders and HR staff and provides helpful information on dealing with some of the biggest challenges that companies face regarding employee relations, benefits, and HR law, among other things.

The Mid-Tex HRMA serves HR professionals in the Brown County area and meets regularly on the 2nd Thursday of each month at TSTC (located at 305 Booker Street in Brownwood) from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm for a lunch and learn session.  For more information about Mid-Tex HRMA and the benefits of becoming a member of the Society for Human Resource Management please visit the Mid-Tex HRMA website at  http://mid-tex.shrm.org/.
