80thAnniversaryCelebration2014

The public is invited to join the staff at Lake Brownwood State Park Sunday, October 12th, as they celebrate their 80th year as a Texas State Park.

There will be fun activities for everyone, including a 5K Trail Run, kid fishing derby, interpretive programs, guided trail walks and facility tours.  All activities are free with paid entrance to the park with the exception of the 5K Trail Run.

Organizers encourage everyone to bring their fishing poles to the park, to enjoy the Kid’s Fishing Derby where kids 16 and younger can compete for prizes in 3 age categories (ages 6 and under, 7-11, and 12-16).  Everyone can fish with the Rangers, get help in catching fish, and certified scales will be available so visitors can get their names in the record book if they catch the “big one.”  No fishing license is required to fish at the State Park and there are loaner poles and tackle available.
