James “Jim” Frederick Boek

boekeJames “Jim” Frederick Boeke passed away at his home in Fountain Valley, California, Friday, September 26, 2014, at the age of 76, after a short battle with Acute Leukemia.

He excelled in Athletics playing football for the Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Rams, and New Orleans Saints. Jim left the NFL to do some acting in movies, commercials, and television; as well as pursing a full time career of teaching and coaching for 22 years. Jim spent his retirement years with his dog, Scooby, devoting himself to his Christian faith, and spending time with family and friends. He touched many lives during his various career paths.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Peggy Nettleship Boeke; one infant son, Calvin Boeke; his parents, Calvin and Majorie Boeke of Ohio; and his in-laws, Clyde and Irene Nettleship of Brownwood, Texas.

Jim leaves behind to cherish his legacy his daughters, Dawn Boeke of Nashville, TN, Chante’ Tilden and husband Kevin of San Clemente, CA, Kelly Walters and husband Dave of Huntington Beach, CA; grandchildren: Jackson and Faith Tilden, and Kelsey Walters. He is also survived by one brother-in-law, Larry Nettleship and wife Kay; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

Burial will be held at the Locker Cemetery on Saturday, October 11, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of San Saba. Online condolences for the family can be left at www.blaylockfuneralhome.com.
