A collision between a bicycle and a motorcycle left one woman injured Tuesday afternoon.  Emergency responders were called to the accident near the intersection of W. Commerce and Beaver Street at 12:45 p.m.

According to a witness on scene, the bicyclist attempted to cross the roadway when she was struck by the motorcycle which was heading east on W. Commerce.

The witness reported that the impact knocked the woman off of the bicycle and the motorcycle was knocked onto its side and slid approximately 20 yards carrying the woman’s bicycle with it toward the intersection of Beaver Street where both vehicles came to rest in the roadway.

The female bicyclist was reported to have a significant laceration on her head which was bleeding badly according to the witness who rendered first aid until emergency responders arrived on scene.  She stated that the female was conscious and talking after the accident.  The female was treated by EMS and transported to the hospital.  The male motorcyclist appeared to be uninjured and was wearing a helmet along with leather chaps.

The bicycle was damaged by the impact; its metal frame near the seat was reported to have broken due to the impact.  Pictured above are the motorcycle and bicycle involved in the accident.  Below are more photos of the accident scene.

Brownwood Fire Department, Brownwood Police Department, Allegiance Ambulance, Brown County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the accident scene.
