Jesus “Chuy” Mascorro

macorroJesus “Chuy” Mascorro, age 89, of Brownwood passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at a local nursing home.

Funeral Services for “Chuy” will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with Margarito Barboza officiating, burial will follow at Jenkins Springs Cemetery. Visitation for the family will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.

“Chuy” was born on January 31, 1925 in Durango, Mexico to Agustin and Concepcion (Lira) Mascorro. He married Maxine (Reyes) Mascorro in November 1950. They have lived in Brownwood since 1980. “Chuy” loved listening to music and playing his guitar. He enjoyed and always wanted to be outside in the sun. He nicknamed everyone, even people he had just met. “Chuy” loved spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Maxine Mascorro; son, Efrain Mascorro and wife Antonia; daughters, Ada Lopez and husband Armando, Eva Roldan and husband Arturo, Dalila Mascorro, Diana Mendoza and husband Reymundo, Alicia Mascorro Perez, and Hortencia Mascorro; 24 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brothers, Pedro Mascorro and Antonio Mascorro; sisters, Maria Rangel and Manuela Flores. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Agustin and Concepcion Mascorro; 3 sons, Pete, Sal, and Joel Mascorro; grandson, Peter Sal Mascorro; brothers, Carlos and Dario Mascorro; and sister Cruz Mascorro.
