The public is asked to mark their calendars to support Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) on North Texas Giving Day from 6:00 a.m. to midnight this Thursday, September 18th.

On this date, any online donation of $25 or more made via the BBBS North Texas Giving Day webpage will be eligible for bonus funds and your bonus will go a bit further on this day.   Click Here to Contribute on September 18th.

BBBS of Brown County has set a goal to raise $35,000 through this opportunity which will go toward recruiting, screening, matching, training and supporting our mentors for the children who are waiting to be matched.

Eric Evans, Regional Executive Director of Brown County BBBS, stated that donors can indicate their donation is from or for Brown County and Brown County BBBS will be the recipient.

“All funds contributed from this area will go to this area.  All funds given from and/or for Brown County are used in Brown County,” encouraged Evans.  “We currently have 14 kids that are awaiting a match – let’s help get this accomplished.  Contributions can be from $25-$30,000 to help these kids and we also get a percentage of the match from bonus funds.”

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Brown County provides mentors to local children.  Research shows that through the positive impact of a match relationship, children are more likely to graduate from high school and less likely to use drugs, alcohol or engage in high-risk behaviors.   In short, they will have more opportunity to reach their highest potential with the encouragement that an additional adult mentor can add to their life. Volunteers are asked to spend time with a child at least twice a month.

BBBS is a United Way agency primarily supported by local donations.
