The Cowboy Capital Rollergirls presented The ARK with a check for $600 dollars this week.  The check represented a percentage of the proceeds from their bout against the Route 66 Roller Derby team on July 12th at the Brownwood Coliseum.  The ARK’s Board Chairman, John Propst, spoke at the event.  After the bout, Propst had this to say, “Not only are these girls involved in the community giving back continuously, donating both time and money to area charities, they are also having the time of their lives skating competitively.  You can’t help but get caught up in the excitement of the bout.”

On Saturday, September 6th, the Cowboy Capital Rollergirls will take on the Free Radicals and the Triple D Derby in Stephenville City Park.  The doors open at 5:00 pm and the first game starts at 6:00 pm.  The benefiting charity for these games is the Meals on Wheels, but The ARK will be there in spirit as one of their biggest fans.

The ARK is a shelter for victims of domestic violence and/or sexual abuse and their families in Brown, Coleman and Comanche Counties.  It is a pet friendly shelter so that victims may also bring their pets with them when they come. The phone number to call for help is 325-643-2699.  For more information about the ARK Shelter, visit www.arkshelter.org.
