BadgeLogoBrown County Sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant on Monday morning which resulted in the arrest of six on drug related charges.

According to Brown County Sheriff’s Captain Tony Aaron, BSCO officers executed the warrant at approximately 8:30 a.m. at an apartment in the 800 block of Avenue C.  The initial warrant targeted three suspects identified as 33-year-old James Bryan Schlegelmilch of Lake Brownwood, 43-year-old Sharon Larue Schaffer of Brownwood, and 25-year-old Alex Fischer also of Brownwood.

Aaron reported that once officers were inside the apartment, they located Schlegelmilch and 51-year-old Kyle Couch of Brownwood inside.  Schlegelmilch attempted to destroy evidence in an attempt to flush methamphetamine down a toilet; however, officers physically restrained him to prevent him from flushing the methamphetamine, according to Aaron’s report.  Five more people were detained outside of the residence, which included Fischer, 24-year-old Rachel Armanda Fortune (AKA Rachel Barnett) of May, and 18-year-old Kaitlyn Luckie of Early.

Next to where Fischer was sitting, Aaron stated there was a backpack which contained methamphetamine as well as distribution materials such as scales and baggies.  Fortune was found to be in possession of prescription drugs in a Ziploc baggie for which she did not have a prescription according to Aaron’s report.

A search of the residence located a total of 20 grams of methamphetamine and several other drugs packaged for distribution, said Aaron.

Schlegelmilch, Shaffer and Couch were arrested inside the apartment, while Fischer and Luckie were arrested on the porch of a nearby apartment, Aaron stated.  Fortune was arrested outside but her ID was found inside the original apartment where the warrant was executed according to Aaron. Luckie also had ties to the apartment, as her boyfriend Schlegelmilch is a resident there, explained Aaron.

The location of the arrests was inside a drug free zone.  Aaron stated that BSCO was familiar with all subjects located at the residence.

Schlegelmilch, Fischer, Couch, Shaffer and Luckie were each charged with manufacture delivery of a controlled substance  penalty group 1 equal or greater than 4 grams less than 200 grams and manufacture delivery of a controlled substance penalty group 3/4 equal or greater than 28 grams less than 200 grams in a drug free zone; and Fortune was charged with Possession of a controlled substance penalty group 3 less than 28 grams.

Sheriff Bobby Grubbs stated that he was once again proud of his officers.

“Once again my hat’s off to Carlisle and Stroope.  They did a fantastic job putting this together and have been doing so on a regular basis, so I commend them for their work,” said Grubbs.  “I think this whole thing went smooth and very well.”
