StuffTheBus2014The “Stuff the School Bus” collection drive held July 31 – August 18th at Brownwood grocer Kroger benefitted Brown County School Districts raising $3,687 in supplies.  Hundreds of deserving students will receive free school supplies, distributed by the Salvation Army, to start the new school year thanks to the efforts of the grocer and its customers.

Caren Friend, area representative of The Salvation Army, is pictured above with Jason McLaughlin of Kroger.

During the 19-day program, shoppers had the opportunity to visit their local Kroger store to donate a pre-packaged school supply kit for $7 or to make a $1 donation at the checkstand.

“It means a great deal to everyone when our customers partner with us to support education programs like Stuff the Bus” says Garry Forisha, Kroger store manager.

The Kroger Southwest Division operates 211 stores, 202 pharmacies and 113 fuel centers in Texas and Louisiana and is part of one of the nation’s largest retail grocery chains serving customers in 31 states.
