Brownwood city officials, Brownwood Economic Development Corporation, TSTC and Ranger College representatives are partnering together with Kohler Company and M&F Gauge to secure a Skills Development Fund Grant which will help fund job-training programs for local manufacturing companies such as Kohler and M&F Gauge.

According to Ruth Willis, BEDC Project Administrator, if awarded, the grant will bring funding to support high-quality, customized job training projects to both Kohler and M&F Gauge.

“The technical training programs that these types of grants help fund provide the necessary training for employees to perform the high-quality, skilled jobs needed of our industry employers. The Skills Development Fund helps develop, implement and improve training programs for companies such as Kohler Company and M&F Gauge, so that they can hire, retain and advance employees within their companies,” explained Willis. “TSTC and Ranger College will provide assistance with creating the training programs that meet the company’s needs as well as administer the grant from TWC.”

The BEDC is a strong supporter of partnerships between industry and education. It works to encourage the creation of jobs in our local economy and to provide a highly skilled workforce through job training programs such as this, Willis stated.
