Off Mic With Ben Cox: What a Weekend!

bencox2I just had a great weekend. Really, it was that good.

When is the last time you were able to say that, and truly mean it?

I had a one man Scream movie marathon on Friday. (Saw the 1st on Dish, and well, ya gotta watch all 4, right?) It was a delicious trip back to 90s culture, and was a good visit.

Then, on Saturday, I went on another time travel trip back to the 50s. No DeLorean was needed for this trip, however, as I’m talking about the West Texas Rehab event at the coliseum with the sounds of 50s music from Roy Orbison tribute artist Al Nelson.

My date got decked out in her 50s garb and then she and I actually got up and danced to one of the songs. We decided that if you’re gonna go, ya gotta go big!

Turns out we knew the words to more songs than the folks around us thought we would, as one woman actually turned around in her chair and applauded us after a sing along with one of the 50s tunes the band played.

That was Saturday, on to Sunday. (That’s typically how the weekend flows, right?)

Church and lunch with a great friend, then good conversation and dinner and a movie with more friends.

By the time I actually drifted off to sleep, I was exhausted.

It was the first weekend in a very long time that I can hold up and show off as my ideal weekend. Where I got a lot, and nothing done, all at the same time.

I remarked at work this morning it was a weekend that I need another weekend to recoup from! I don’t know if I actually meant that.

In fact I know I don’t.

It’s a weekend that bears repeating. As often as possible.

And that, I know I mean!
