GistJohnGraveside services for John Edwin Gist, 78, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2014 in Zephyr Cemetery, Zephyr, Texas.  Bro. Larry Buck will officiate.

Visitation will be held from 2- 4 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Rosser Funeral Home.

Mr. Gist passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 in Fort Worth, Texas.  He was born in Zephyr on September 5, 1935, the son of Harold and Jewel (Baker) Gist.

John married Shirley Dupree on July 3, 1954 in Zephyr.  He served his country in the Army National Guard for approximately 25 years.

After retiring from 50 years of commercial construction, John drove a CISD school bus for eight years.  He was a member of Westhill Church of Christ.

John was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, N. B. Gist.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Gist of Cleburne; sons, John Steven Gist and wife, Paula, of Katy, Texas, Lanny Gist and wife, Mary Ann, of Arlington, Texas, and Brent Gist and wife, Pam, of Cleburne; sister, Carolyn Ogden and husband, George, of Blanket, Texas brother, Richard Gist and wife, Joan, of Early, Texas; grandchildren, Lindsay Elmore and husband, Corey, Michael Gist and wife,  Emily, Stacey Hallett and husband, Sean, and Lisa Bradley; great grandchildren, Cayden Elmore, Titus Gist, Tre’Von Bradley, Jamari Bradley, Aaliyah Smith, Ryan Hallett, and Connor Hallett.
