leapinglionA sewing summer camp is being offered at Brownwood High School in August.  Incoming 3rd through 12th grade students are invited to attend; however space is limited to ten campers for each camp.

Campers will be taught basic sewing skills such as threading a sewing machine, using a standard pattern and how to measure for accuracy in a relaxed atmosphere.  Campers need to arrive with supplies already purchased and ready to sew.  They should also wear comfortable, casual clothing.

The camp goal is for each camper to take home a completed pair of boxer shorts.

The first camp will be held from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on August 6-8 and will be for 3rd to 8th graders.  A mid-morning snack will be provided.  Students attending this camp should purchase the following supplies:

Pattern:  McCalls M6227
1 1/8 yard of woven cotton fabric
1 spool of thread to match fabric
1 yard ¾ inch wide no roll elastic
Optional seam ripper (just in case)
Scissors that will cut fabric

The second camp will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on August 9-12 for incoming 9th -12th graders.   Lunch will be provided.  Students attending this camp should purchase the following:

Pattern:  McCalls M4320
1 ¾ yards of woven cotton fabric
1 spool of thread to match fabric
1 ½ yards ¾ in wide no roll elastic
Optional seam ripper (just in case)
Scissors that will cut fabric

Both camps are limited to 10 campers.  The last date to sign up for camp and be able to get the pattern in Brownwood is July 25, 2014.  Participants must pay fees to hold their space.  The

3-8 grade camp is $35 and 9-12 is $45. Contact Connie Sliger at 325-642-4231 or Mitzi Cockerham at 325-203-3782 for more information.
