City and Rural Rides to Host Public Meetings on Proposed Service Changes

CARRLogojLocal transportation service City and Rural Rides (CARR), Central Rural Transit District, will host meetings beginning Friday, July 18th regarding proposed changes in service.

The meetings will be held at the following locations:

Erath County:
July 18th – 3:00 p.m.
1481 W South Loop, Suite 4 in Stephenville

Brown, Coleman, and Comanche Counties:
July 21st – 1:00 p.m.
TSTC – Welcome Center room 122
305 Booker Street in Brownwood

Taylor, Nolan, Runnels, Eastland, Callahan, Stephens, and Shackelford Counties:
July 21st – 2:00 p.m.
TxDOT Office
4250 N Clack in Abilene.

These meetings will address changes including:

  • $1 million shortfall due to changes with MTP contract
  • Changing from 24 hours advanced notice to 48 hour advanced notice
  • Advanced scheduling hours are changing
  • No longer providing door to door service upon request only curb to curb
  • Cutting early morning, late afternoon, & Saturday service in Brown county
  • Discontinuing Erath County trips to Fort Worth
  • Changes to Erath, Brown, and Comanche Schedules

These proposed changes, if approved, would take effect Monday, September 1, 2014.

For those unable to attend, written comments will be accepted via mail until August 20, 2014 at: CARR, PO Box 712, Coleman, TX  76834.
