Modesta Herrera

herreraFuneral services for Modesta Herrera, age 54, of Early, will be at 3:00 PM, Sunday, June 29, 2014 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to the funeral.

Modesta passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Medical City Hospital in Dallas.

Modesta Mancillas Herrera was born on February 24, 1960 in Cienega y Mancillas, Rio Grande, Zacatecas Mexico to Antonio and Juana Duron Mancillas.  She married Cirilo Herrera on September 20, 1979 in Mexico and moved to Early in 1981.  Modesta was a member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church.  She worked as a housekeeper for Brownwood Nursing and Rehab and for Eastlawn Memorial Park.  Modesta enjoyed going to garage sales, raising her chickens, plants and flowers. She always put her children first and helped all her family members in the time of need.


Modesta is survived by her husband of 34 years, Cirilo Herrera of Early, a daughter, Lucy Herrera of Dallas, two sons, Jesse Herrera of Dallas and Ricardo Herrera of Early; three grandchildren, Daniel Alex and Lucy, five sisters and two brothers.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
