comptrollerlogoTexas State Comptroller Susan Combs released June sales tax allocation numbers this week reflecting April sales with Brownwood, Early and Bangs all showing continued steady increases from the previous month.

The City of Bangs was up more than 6%, Early more almost 13% and Brownwood gained over 19% as compared to the same month last year.  Blanket saw a significant drop of -52.97% from the same period in 2013.  Brown County as a whole was up in sales tax collections so far this year.

Combs will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts their June local sales tax allocations totaling $621.5 million, up 11.6 percent compared to June 2013.

“Sales tax growth was evident across all major economic sectors,” Combs said. “The growth was led by the retail and wholesale trade sectors, the oil and natural gas mining sector, and the services sector. This marks the 50th consecutive month of increased state sales tax revenues, and brings the fiscal year-to-date growth to 5.4 percent.”
