WesBeckSmEarly ISD trustees named Wes Beck as the lone finalist for EISD Superintendent in a unanimous vote on Tuesday night.

Board members completed the last of three interviews with applicants before making the decision.

Beck is the superintendent at Shamrock ISD, which is located in the Panhandle, since 2007. He previously served as the Early High School principal from 2003 to 2007.  Prior to that, he worked in the Stephenville ISD.

Early ISD School Board President Shawn Russell stated that Beck’s familiarity with Early, his leadership, and loyalty made him stand out from the other candidates considered for the position.

“He bonded well with the faculty and staff and was a great leader on that (EHS) campus. We’re lucky that he’s going to be our next superintendent,” Russell said.

Officials said that there were initially 40 applicants for top position at EISD and that the board has been conducting interviews with finalists over the last few weeks.

In addition, to naming a new superintendent, the board also named Rob Chapleau the new Early High School band director, filling the vacancy left as Jason Jones takes a new position in Burnet.   For the past three years Chapleau has served as the assistant EHS Band director and middle school director.
