DayMichaelMichael Wayne Day, 61, entered into the arms of his Savior and achieved ultimate healing after a courageous four-year battle with pancreatic cancer.  He passed away June 3, 2014 at his home with his wife by his side.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6:00 pm, Friday, June 6, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Brownwood with Pastor Rodney McGlothlin and Dallas Huston officiating.  Visitation will be held Thursday, June 5, from 6-8 pm at Davis Morris Funeral Chapel.

Mike was born July 10, 1952 in Brownwood to Billy Floyd Day and Ruby Estelle Mayfield Day.  He attended Brownwood schools and graduated in 1970.  He also attended Texas State University.  On August 6, 1997, he married Carolyn Sheffield.

Growing up around his father’s garage, he learned a variety of mechanical skills as well as pipe line and phone lines.  He worked for an oil company in Breckenridge and later managed a Texaco station on Austin Avenue.  His 20-year career with Danhil Containers ended when he retired in January, 2014.

Mike was an avid sports fan and dad.  He played softball for several teams and enjoyed attending sports events for his kids.  He never missed a game or an event involving his children until recently when he was unable to attend.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sheffield Day; his three sons, Matt Day of Austin, Brian Day of Taylor and Hayden Day of Brownwood; his two daughters, Tara Day and her fiancé, Justin Brown of Brownwood and Mallorie Maxwell of Brownwood; his two grandchildren, Baylee Brown and Justin Wayne Brown of Brownwood.

He is also survived by three sisters, Anna Day of Brownwood, Elaine Schele and husband, David of Austin and Cindy Heiser and husband Allan of Montana; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Floyd Day and Ruby Estelle Day, and his brother Billy Day, Jr.

Condolences may be sent to www.davismorrisfuneralhome.com.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation www.npcf.us.
