Do you like photography, scrapbooking, sewing, quilting or jewelry making? If so, then make plans to enter your items and attend the Hobby & Craft Fair on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at The Adams Street Community Center in Brownwood. This event is sponsored by the Brown County Texas Extension Education Association. The mission of the Texas Extension Education Association (TEEA), Inc. is to work with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service to strengthen and enrich families through educational programs, leadership development, and community service.
The hobby & craft fair will include judging of entries in 24 different divisions. People of all ages can enter their items for judging. In addition to the judging there will also be a program by Marlene Gillman on Yard Art, entertainment provided by George Allison and various craft demonstrations. There will also be a FREE luncheon and door prizes. Awards and the presentation of 4-H Scholarships will take place during lunch.
Registration and acceptance of entries will start at 9:30 a.m. with the judging and program beginning at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon and all entries can be picked up at 1:30 p.m. Categories of entry include:
- Afghans, Tablecloths, Bedspreads, Blankets, and Throws – knitted, crocheted, weaving, and tatting.
- Ceramics, China, Porcelain, and Pottery
- Craft Painting – tole and decorative, stenciling – may include wood, metal, glass, fabric, and gourds
- Decorated Garments – purchased or handmade – embellished or decorated with fabric, ribbon, trim, stones, and/or lace (clothing and accessories)
- Fabric creations – (must be made of fabric) – may include dolls, animals, baskets, pillows, braided rugs, door stops, crocheted rag rugs, etc.
- Fiber Arts – crocheting, knitting, tatting, macramé, and spinning – may include clothing, doilies, scarfs, and other small items
- Garments and Accessories Handmade – sewing
- Hand stitchery – needlepoint, crewel, embroidery, candle wicking, smocking, and counted cross stitch
- Machine Embroidery
- Holiday Decoration – any holiday, any medium
- Jewelry – may include beads, clay, paper, shells, stones, watercolor, and wood
- Painting and Drawing – watercolor, oils, pastels, and charcoal
- Paper – may include note cards and pages
- Traditional Scrapbooks
- Digitally Produced Scrapbooks
- Photography – black and white and color
- Quilts – smaller than 50 x 70 – Hand Quilted
- Quilts – larger than 50 x 70 – Hand Quilted
- Quilts – smaller than 50 x 70 – Machine Quilted
- Quilts – larger than 50 x 70 – Machine Quilted
- Quilts Any Size – Hand or Machine Quilted – constructed and quilted by more than one member
