Reminder: Bangs Mayfest to Celebrate 20 Years Saturday, May 3rd

The 20th Annual Bangs Mayfest is set for Saturday, May 3rd at Bangs City Park, offering a fun day for everyone.  The city park is located at the corner of Fitzgerald and 4th Street in Bangs.

The Mayfest parade will kick off the day at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.  The parade line up will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will travel down Fitzgerald, past the city park, and through the downtown area.  Mayfest activities such as live music all day, arts and crafts as well as food booths, city wide garage sales, pony rides, face painting, bounce houses and a rock climbing wall will be open to the public beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Those 18 and older can register to participate in the KOXE Cash Cube money box which will be held at 3:00 p.m. with a total of $1,000 to be given away.  Register at local businesses – Food Plaza, Allsup’s, Cross Cuts, Thrift Mart, Bangs Drug Mart and Rippetoe’s to win a 30 second chance to grab all the money you can hold. (Must be present to win a chance in the Cash Cube).

The Mayfest Car Show will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the Bangs Church of Christ parking lot.  Registration is from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and awards will be announced at 2:30 p.m.

At 6:00 p.m., a talent show “Mayfest Got Talent” will get underway in the Bangs High School Auditorium.  Contestants will be separated by age groups of 3-7, 8-12, 13-17, and 18 and over.

Local churches will be serving breakfast and lunch in addition to the festivities at the park.

The First Baptist Church will be serving a pancake breakfast inside the fellowship hall from 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and a nacho lunch starting at 11:30 a.m.  Bangs FBC will also have vendor and garage sale booths inside for convenient shopping under one roof.

The First Methodist Church will host an enchilada lunch inside their fellowship hall.  FMC will also host a plant sale and garage sale inside, making shopping easy. Both sales begin at 8:00 a.m.

Mark your calendar for a fun filled day for the family on Saturday, May 3rd in Bangs.
